Week 3 Assignment: Surface Design / Mosaic

First I reduced the opacity of the image and locked it in place, then I started with the basic shapes of the circles and the rectangular shape of the frame. |

Because the photo isn't straight on, and the pattern isn't completely symmetrical I created some intersecting grid lines to work with as framework for my pattern. |

I took the quarter of the pattern that I designed and mirrored it horizontally then vertically. |

then I started to use OFFSET to add the thickness to the frame. This ended up taking a while... I wasn't sure how to offset everything at once. |

I got tired of trying and instead used OFFSET on a quarter of the design, cleaned it up with trim and then separated it from the rest of the design. |

With my selection separated I made sure to clean it up in the ways I wanted before mirroring it again. |
